2000 years in the past. Technology is almost non-existent. Humans dropping like flies. Intelligent horses reproducing. The miracle or the disaster.
Year 144. Ida was the first ever horse to have been captured by a human. She thought she was the first ever horse to have gained intelligence too, but she realised that that was not the case when she met Kahili while trying to find shelter. That was the first time that a line of speech uttered from a horse's mouth. The two explained their situations to each other; Ida, the first horse to have ever been legally captured, had escaped from her pen and found her caretakers dead in their house after breaking the front door open. Kahili revealed that he was trying to be captured, when the men started dropping onto the floor, one by one. They never got up. That was when he realised that he had something that he never had before: the intelligence of a human.
They deduced with their new founded common sense that there must have been some epidemic that killed off mankind but somehow managed to gift horses near to humans with intelligence. The two reproduced. They were the Adam and Eve of horses, if you will. Regular horses eventually died out, while intelligent ones filled their places. Things rocked back to the usual harmony that mankind had before the disease.
Fast forward 744 years. Due to climate change, horses mostly inhabit a location nicknamed The Zenith; a mountain in the middle of the land with all sorts of places surrounding it - deserts, lakes, forests, you name it. Herds have started forming, and with power there's always happiness, but with happiness there's also bitterness. Both horses and herds quarrel, more often then not physically.
You are a lone horse entering The Zenith for the first time.
